How to create a Canvas Studio Quiz from a video in your Canvas Studio Library 

First, make sure to add the video you want to use to your Canvas Studio Library. Follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to Canvas
  2. From the global menu (far left),  select the Canvas Studio icon (looks like a TV)
  3. Select Create, Add Media, then Browse Files
  4. Locate and select the video. It may take a few minutes of processing time to appear in your Canvas Studio Library

How to create a Canvas Studio Quiz from a YouTube video

First, make sure to add the video you want to use to your Canvas Studio Library. Follow the steps below:

  1. Find the YouTube video you want to use and copy its URL (link)
  2. Log in to Canvas
  3. From the global menu (far left),  select the Canvas Studio icon (looks like a TV)
  4. Select Create, then Add Media
  5. You will see a pop-up.  On the right side, there is a YouTube logo.  Under Paste External Link, paste the URL that you copied
  6. Select Add Video and it will appear in your Canvas Studio Library

How to add your Canvas Studio Quiz to your Course as an Assignment

  1. Navigate to the course where you want to add your quiz
  2. Select Assignments on your course menu
  3. Select + Assignment to add an assignment
  4. Leave Assignment Name blank (the assignment name will be the video title)
  5. Under Submission Type, select External Tool and then Find
  6. Select Canvas Studio and select the video quiz (it will have a rocket ship icon on the upper right).
  7. Under the Embed Quiz drop-down menu, select the name of your quiz.
  8. Finally, select Embed Media, then Select, and Save or  Save and Publish
  9. Now, the quiz will be in the Assignments area and it can be added to a module.
