In order to maintain ADA compliance, captions are needed for all videos in your course. Luckily, Canvas Studio and Echo 360 automatically generate captions.
The accuracy of auto-generated captions is roughly 85% accurate, which is ADA compliant. However, if there are discrepancies with spelling or word choice that you would like to correct, you can make edits. Review the transcripts and edit using the following steps:
Canvas Studio:
- Select the video, then Captions.
- Under Manage Captions, you'll the the existing captions listed by language. Select the language, i.e., "English".
- Edit captions. Changes are automatically saved.
Echo 360:
- In your video's option menu, select "Edit Transcript". In the next screen, select "Edit Transcript" again, and make the necessary changes.
- When you’re finished, select save as new version. Then, make sure that the version you just saved is chosen, then select Apply to CC. Then, the CC option will be available to viewers of the video.
