  2. Close the web browser.
  3. Press the “off” button on the console.

Troubleshooting

Scenario:  I cannot hear virtual students.

Typically, this is a microphone issue with students.  However, it could relate to the setup of the classroom speakers.  Follow the steps below until the issue is resolved.

  1. Make sure the volume on your console is up halfway.
  2. Ask another student to speak. If you can hear that student, you know the issue is with the other student.  Ask the other student to make sure their volume is up and that their Zoom audio settings are correct.
  3. Check your Zoom Audio options.  Make sure that the speaker is labeled as “Same as System”.
  4. In the Zoom Audio options, select “Test Speaker and Microphone”.  Complete the test. If you cannot hear from the selected speaker, select another one from the drop-down list.  Continue until you select a speaker that you can hear from.
  5. If there are still problems, call IT services at 978-934-2774

Scenario: Virtual students cannot hear me.

Typically, this is a speaker issue with students.  However, it could relate to the setup of the classroom microphone. Follow the steps below until the issue is resolved.

  1. Make sure the volume on your console is up halfway.
  2. If one student can’t hear you, ask a second student. You can communicate in the Zoom chat. If the second student can hear you, you know the issue is with the first student.  Ask the first student to make sure their volume is up and that their Zoom audio settings are correct.
  3. If neither student can hear you, check your Zoom Audio options.  Make sure that your microphone is labeled as “Same as System”.
  4. In the Zoom Audio Options, select “Test Speaker and Microphone”.  Complete the test. If the selected microphone doesn’t work, select another one from the drop-down list.  Continue until you select a microphone that works.
  5. If none of the above options work, call IT services at 978-934-2774

Scenario:  I cannot see virtual students.

This is either an issue with a student's video options or your view options.

  • If you want to see your virtual student, ask them to turn their cameras on by clicking on the camera icon on their Zoom options.  If necessary, they can change their camera through the Zoom Video options.
  • If you are sharing your screen and want to see your students, you can adjust your options to see students .  If not sharing your screen, there are a number of ways to view the virtual students.

Scenario: Virtual students cannot see me.

This is an issue with your video options. Your camera might be turned off, or the wrong camera might be selected.

  1. In your Zoom menu, the camera icon might have a red line through it, meaning your camera is turned off.  Click on the camera icon to turn your camera on.
  2. In the Zoom Video Options, select a different camera.  If the selected camera doesn’t work, select another one.  Continue until you select a camera that works.
  3. If none of the above options work, call IT services at 978-934-2774
