To add alt text to an existing image, select the image and then select Image Options. The Image Options menu will appear on the right side of your screen with a box to add alt text. If the image is only for decoration and has no relevance to the topic, select Decorative Image. When complete, select Done. To add a new image, select the Image button and then Upload Image. After adding your image, write your alt text in the box and Submit. If the image is only for decoration and has no relevance to the topic, select Decorative Image. Keep in mind these best practices for adding alt text in your Canvas RCE: All images should have alternative text descriptions (or mark as decorative). Alt text should be functional and provide an equivalent user experience. Don't include text like "image of.." or "graphic representing...". This is redundant information since screen readers already identify the object as a graphic. Complex images, like data charts and graphs, may be too difficult to describe succinctly in an alt tag. In these cases, please describe the graphic on the page as a caption, perhaps beneath the graphic.
