In Canvas, instructors can adjust due dates for all assignments at once. There are two options available.
Option 1: Adjust dates during course copy (using this option is required if you enabled "automatically apply zeros for missing submissions" in the gradebook)
- When copying a course from prior semester, check the box next to Adjust Events and Due Dates
- Select Shift dates if you want to update the dates for the new semester OR remove dates if you want all old dates removed
- Enter the last semester's beginning date and end date into the first set of boxes and upcoming semester's beginning and end date into the second set (see screenshot below)
- Select + Add to Import Queue
Note: use the closest Monday for the beginning date and Sunday for the end date so that all weekly due dates shift correctly. Week 1 assignment due dates may need to be manually adjusted since the semester doesn't always begin on a Monday.

Option 2: Adjust due dates using Assignments area after the course copy is completed
- Copy your course into the upcoming semester shell
- Click Assignments on the course menu
- Click the three dots next to + Assignment blue button and select Edit Assignment Dates

- Check the box next to Title to select all assignments and then click Batch Edit button at the top.
- Select Shift Days and enter the number of days between previous and upcoming semester OR select remove dates to remove all old dates and manually add new dates
- Click Confirm and then Save
After the copy is complete, go Home to view your content. Verify the copy was done correctly. If you adjusted dates, make sure that the new dates are accurate.
