How do I create a Grade Center column that calculates the final course grade?

  1. Make sure the Edit Mode is set to On.
  1. Under Control Panel on the left, click Grade Center.
  2. Click Full Grade Center.
  3. By default, the Blackboard Grade Center contains a Weighted Total column that can be set up to calculate final course grades. Mouse over it and click the gray arrow .
  4. Select Edit Column Information.
  5. Change the column name to Course Grade, Final Grade or similar.
  6. Scroll down and under Primary Display select how you want the grade to be displayed for you and the students (Letter, Percentage, ).
  7. Under Columns to Select, select a column on the left and then click the right arrow > to move it to the Selected Columns box (for example: click Quiz 1 and move it to the right) OR if you have several columns in one category (Discussions, for example) use Categories to Select.
  8. Enter what percentage of the final grade this item is worth (for example: if your Quiz 1 is worth 10% of the final grade, enter the weight into the box with the asterisk).
  9. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to enter percentage weights for all your gradable items (must add up to 100%).
  1. Click Submit to save.
