In an online course, we have less access to the feedback that allows us to tailor our approach to each new group of students. The choices we make in our online course must be driven by the purpose of our students’ achievement of course objectives. An online course with a purpose-driven design reduces the instances in which confusion and uncertainty occurs, which leads to more meaningful engagement with course work.
Below are a set of short videos that can support the online course development process. The first video provides an overview of course objectives, the second focuses on strategies for writing course objectives, and the third explains Backwards Design, which is a common approach to online course planning.
